waste-to-energy power plant

Waste-to-energy plants burn municipal solid waste (MSW), often called garbage or trash, to produce steam in a boiler, and the steam is used to power an electric generator turbine. MSW is a mixture of energy-rich materials such as paper, plastics, yard waste, and products made from wood.

A waste-to-energy power plant converts waste, like municipal solid waste (MSW) or industrial waste, into usable energy, primarily electricity and heat. This is achieved through processes like incineration, where waste is burned, or by generating combustible fuel from waste. The heat from combustion is then used to produce steam, which drives turbines to generate electricity.
