The first waste-to-energy incinerator in Iran, the Arad Kouh incineration plant, was a collaborative project between China and Iran. The plant was built in cooperation with China. Zhejiang ECO-WASTE Technology, a Chinese company, was responsible for providing the waste incineration power generation technology and equipment for the project. The Arad Kouh plant, which processes 200 tons of waste daily and generates 3MW of electricity, was operational by 2015.
