Intelligent conveying systems cross industries and “integrate” overseas

General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized when participating in the deliberations of the Jiangsu delegation at the First Session of the 14th National People’s Congress that in the fierce international competition, we must open up new fields and new tracks for development, shape new development momentum and new advantages. Fundamentally speaking, we still need to Rely on technological innovation. In the face of new development trends, how to plug in the wings of “tech innovation”?
On March 9, the reporter walked into the production workshop of Jiangsu BOOTEC Engineering Co., Ltd. located in Changdang Town, Sheyang, and saw that BOOTEC is intensively cultivating key core technologies, laying a foundation for cross industry development.

Large laser cutting equipment is moving rapidly, and several welding robots are flying up and down. In intelligent workshops, workers are skilled in sheet metal, welding, assembly, and handling. “While catching up with orders, the company is accelerating its market development and new product development this year,” said Zhu Chenyin, general manager of BOOTEC.

BOOTEC has been focusing on the production, supplying and service of boiler ash and flue gas and fly ash conveying system equipment in the waste incineration industry. “In waste incineration power plants, from waste loading to slag to fly ash, conveyors are responsible for the transmission work.” Zhu Chenyin said. BOOTEC mainly makes profits by providing products to waste incineration power plants. More than 600 waste incineration power plants have been put into operation nationwide, of which nearly 300 are provided with conveying system equipment by BOOTEC. As far as Jiamusi in the north, Sanya in the south, Shanghai in the east, and Lhasa in the west, BOOTEC’s products are seen everywhere.

“In the early days of the company’s establishment, we tried to develop across industries, but at that time, the company’s scale and strength were not supported. We decided to deeply cultivate our industry, giving priority to quality, and improving the core competitiveness of our products.” Zhu Chenyin recalled that in the first two years of the company’s establishment, foreign imported equipment occupied the mainstream of the market, resulting in high maintenance costs and insufficient service timeliness; The domestic equipment selected for foreign process design does not match well in type selection, and there are also problems with operation and maintenance. “Part localization, part optimization.” Zhu Chenyin seized these two pain points and “patched” foreign processes and equipment in the company’s initial stage, which is also an opportunity for BOOTEC to embark on the path of specialization.

With the rapid development of the waste incineration market, the industry has also put forward higher requirements for product professionalism. According to reports, at the end of 2017, in order to meet production capacity requirements, the company acquired and controlled Zhongtai, and started the construction of Shengliqiao Plant Phase II to expand production capacity. In 2020, BOOTEC added 110 mu of industrial land in Xingqiao Industrial Park and built a new conveyor intelligent factory. After the completion of the project, it can produce 3000 sets of conveying equipment annually and become the largest production base of scraper conveyor in China.

“The development scale and overall strength of the company have reached a new level, and we intend to adjust our strategy to utilize our original products and advantages to develop across industries and enter new markets with the same ‘playing method’.” Zhu Chenyin said that the waste incineration industry itself is small in scale, and the transportation system equipment that the company specializes in can be widely used in industries such as paper making, new energy, metallurgy, and chemical engineering.

In recent years, BOOTEC has cooperated with Tongji University, Hehai University and other universities in research and development, and has upgraded and improved the original products according to the characteristics of different industries. Modernization and full automation improve efficiency and reduce operating costs. In addition, the baler that originally required manual operation has also been improved to be fully automatic, realizing intelligence and harmlessness, and avoiding occupational disease hazards caused by improper protection of human health. “The future development of enterprises still depends on scientific and technological innovation. Only by continuously improving the key core technology and production scale of products can they have international competitiveness.” Zhu Chenyin said.

How to truly integrate into the international market? “First of all, we need to benchmark international standards and increase R&D investment in cross industry development. We need to have cutting-edge design, R&D, and integration capabilities.” Zhu Chenyin admitted that the company has benchmark a Japanese company with a history of more than 100 years. The company’s products are similar to BOOTEC, but they are targeted at the international high-end market. Actively cooperating and communicating with international companies can not only learn and integrate the international advanced concepts and technical standards of the industry, but also promote the advantageous products of the industry across industries and across borders, allowing more competitive products to “go abroad”.

Currently, BOOTEC’s products have been exported to Finland, Brazil, Indonesia, Thailand, and other countries. It is expected that the contract value of large conveyor orders exported by the company this year will exceed 50 million Chinese yuan. In order to meet these orders required by international standards, BOOTEC has comprehensively upgraded its production system in the past two years, including software systems such as ERP and PLM, and hardware systems such as automatic welding systems, automatic surface treatment, and powder coating systems.

“We need to fully integrate with the international community in terms of concept, design, management, and technology, and maximize our advantages while complying with international industry standards.” Zhu Chenyin hopes that, on the basis of persisting in the research and development of key core technologies and integrating advanced concepts in the international industry, BOOTEC will be able to run out of “acceleration” on cross industry tracks and develop new international business!
